The journey to Amangiri is a bit like discovering a mirage—except this one isn’t going to vanish as soon as you get close. The desert rolls out its ochre carpets, the mesas loom like ancient guardians, and then suddenly, there it is: a sleek structure that could easily be mistaken for a Bond villain’s lair (or an alien rock formation that would send our FYP aflutter) if not for the warm welcome waiting inside. Minimalist to its core, Amangiri doesn’t shout for attention—it lets the landscape do the talking. Concrete walls in muted tones blend effortlessly into the sandstone cliffs, and the architectural lines are so clean you’ll wonder if they’re secretly exfoliating the desert air. It’s understated, sophisticated and quietly confident. Much like the guests who check in.

A modernist dream in a rugged landscape

Walking into Amangiri feels less like entering a resort and more like stepping into an architectural love letter to the desert. The first thing you notice is the calm—it’s almost eerie how quiet it is, like the walls have decided to whisper instead of shout. Then your eyes adjust, and travel to the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the desert like it’s the resort’s favorite artwork, and frankly, it probably is. There’s no clutter, no unnecessary frills—just a serene, almost meditative vibe that makes you want to put your phone down for once. Lounging here feels like you’re part of some secret club where everyone’s in on the fact that silence really is golden.

Wandering further, you find the central pavilion, the heart of the property. There’s an understated fire pit right in the middle, and let us tell you, this thing radiates more cool than you’d think possible for something literally on fire. Around it, minimalist seating areas are scattered just so, inviting you to settle in with a cocktail or a dangerously smug sense of inner peace. The design here doesn’t try to compete with the surroundings—it knows better. Instead, it leans into the natural beauty, letting the desert be the diva.

And then there’s the pool. Oh, the pool. As you round a corner, there it is, wrapping around an actual rock formation like it’s been there forever. You half-expect a desert fox to wander by and casually take a dip. The water glistens under the sun, heated just enough to make you question if leaving is even an option anymore. Loungers line the edges, perfectly placed for soaking up the view—or for contemplating how to rearrange your life so this becomes your regular Tuesday.

Suites built for stargazing and self-indulgence

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to live inside a desert painting, the suites at Amangiri have you covered. Each is designed to bring the outside in, with oversized windows that frame the desert’s changing colors and minimalist interiors that never distract from the view.

The Amangiri Suites let you wake up to panoramas of dunes that seem almost otherworldly, especially from a private lap pool and a sky terrace. Meanwhile, the Girijaala Suites, with a private pool terrace and sky lounge, are so close to the rock formations you might feel like you’re part geologist by the end of your stay. Additional pool suites with a bit more space can be found in the Mesa and Desert suites, the latter with a firepit.

Even more suites are positioned at some of the best spots to view sunset on larger terraces. Imagine staring out into the beyond, a cleansing tonic in hand (we’ll let you choose the spirit), and realizing that maybe, just maybe, you’ve peaked.

Every suite features natural stone floors, custom-designed furniture and thoughtful touches like soaking tubs; and, many with fireplaces and private courtyard entrances. You won’t find gaudy décor here; instead, it’s all about understated elegance. And for the record, that soaking tub might just be the best seat in the house when the desert sunset turns everything shades of gold and crimson. We’re seeing a ‘Martha in the pool’ moment…

And, when checking out isn’t enough…

For the lucky few who can’t bear to leave, Amangiri offers private residences. In keeping with the design approach of the hotel’s architect, Marwan Al Sayed, these homes are a masterclass in blending luxury with the raw beauty of the desert. Expansive glass walls, infinity pools that seem to merge with the horizon and interiors that feel as organic as the landscape outside. Owning one of these isn’t just about having a place to escape to—it’s about making the desert your neighbor. And honestly, who wouldn’t want a view like that for their morning coffee?

Camp Sarika–glamping, but make it luxe

A short hike or buggy ride away lies Camp Sarika, Amangiri’s answer to “How do you make glamping ridiculous?” Here, you’ll find ten tented pavilions that redefine the concept of roughing it. Each tent comes with a private plunge pool (that’s in addition to the sun bed lounge and pool experience you’ll share amongst your new and like-minded best friends), indoor and outdoor showers and interiors so chic they’ll make you reconsider every camping trip you’ve ever been on.

The vibe at Camp Sarika is all about intimacy and connection—with nature, not your email inbox. Whether you’re lounging by your pool, dining alfresco under the stars or hiking the nearby trails connecting with the wilds of the Old West, it’s an experience that combines adventure with unfiltered luxury. And no, you don’t have to pitch your own tent, in case you were worried.

Your days can be spent with tailor-made adventures exploring the three nearby national parks. Desert hikes exploring geological wonders, thrill seeking on the white-water rapids, horseback riding, boating…we could go on, but if you only stay a few days we’ll need to fit in some massages, too.

The dining on camp-us (thank you) is a mix of fire, flavor and fresh air. The experience leans into the campfire aesthetic—but make no mistake, this isn’t your average barbecue. Meals are cooked over an open flame, with a menu that changes daily to reflect the freshest ingredients. It’s rustic, intimate and utterly delicious. Picture yourself savoring a perfectly grilled steak under a blanket of stars, the crackle of the fire adding to the ambiance. Honestly, s’mores have nothing on this. You’ll also have access to the dining options at the main resort.

Southwest flair with a side of sophistication

The dining experience at Amangiri is as much a part of the landscape as the cliffs themselves and brings in the signature all-inclusive experience that we will not be calling all-inclusive. The main restaurant, located in the central pavilion, serves up a menu inspired by the American Southwest, with a global twist. Seasonal and sustainable ingredients are the stars of the show, and the open kitchen lets you see the magic happen in real time. It’s like theater, but with food—and trust us, it’s better than any play you’ve seen this year.

Dine on the terrace, and you’ll have the added bonus of the desert sky as your backdrop. This isn’t your usual al fresco dining; this is dining where the scenery threatens to upstage the food. Pro tip: don’t let it. Every dish is a reminder that simplicity, when done right, can be absolutely extraordinary. And, don’t forget to try the ‘Spirit of the Journey,’ a four-course tasting menu with wine pairing that’s a tribute to the five indigenous tribes of the region.

Two additional dining spaces are available in The Desert Lounge and the Fireside Pavilion. The Desert Lounge is a scenic space amongst the sand dunes and ideal for cocktails and special occasion dinners. The Fireside Pavilion is placed gorgeously under a 165-million-year-old sandstone mesa and just adjacent to the pool, where you’ll be tucked away to have a private dinner amongst the stars. If you are looking for a truly romantic moment, the Sunset Trail is the perfect secluded spot to enjoy drinks and small bites during a sunset.

The desert as your spa therapist

Amangiri’s wellness offerings are what happens when a luxury spa meets centuries of desert wisdom. The spa spans a jaw-dropping 25,000 square feet, which is so expansive it feels like its own serene little village. Here, the treatments aren’t just about relaxation—they’re inspired by Navajo healing traditions, rooted in the elements of earth, wind, fire and water. This isn’t your typical fluff-and-buff spa experience; it’s the kind of place where the desert itself feels like part of the therapy team. Even the treatment rooms are positioned to let in natural light, so you can reconnect with the outdoors while being pampered indoors.

The standout treatments are a blend of ancient and modern techniques. Think body wraps with desert clay, massages with essential oils infused with native plants and crystal sound baths that vibrate all the stress right out of your body. And for those who like their wellness with a side of water, there’s a water and floatation pavilion that brings you on a journey through steam room, sauna and cold plunge to question everything you thought you knew about relaxation. If you’re staying in Camp Sarika, you’ll have the opportunity to have your treatments in your own private Pavilion, looking out and zen-ing into the desert beyond.

For those who prefer to get their zen on actively, Amangiri offers yoga and meditation sessions that take full advantage of the stunning desert backdrop. Try the Tower Butte Yoga, held in an open-air studio 1,000 feet above Lake Powell. You’ll get there by helicopter before dawn so you’ll be in downward dog mode with a sunrise view.

Festive Season–holidays, but make them desert chic

Amangiri takes the festive season to a whole new level. Forget crowded malls and overcooked turkey—here, the holidays mean hot-air balloon rides over the desert, private dining experiences in secret canyons and wellness workshops that actually leave you feeling well. Thanksgiving is hiking and hoop dancing followed by family-style dinner. December holidays bring a mix of sunrise meditation and gingerbread house decorating, followed by a champagne and caviar service and traditional dinners with all the trimmings.

The festive happenings are essentially a love letter to indulgence, with activities and events designed to make the season unforgettable and enjoyable for the whole family. Even the Grinch wouldn’t complain here.

And, because luxury isn’t just for adults

Amangiri does family-friendly without ever compromising on sophistication. Kids can enjoy nature trails, boat rides and s’mores by the fire pit, while parents indulge in a spa treatment or two. And with nearby national parks offering endless opportunities for exploration, it’s the kind of place where everyone goes home with stories to tell.

The property also has a Two-Bedroom Tented Pavilion that’s suited to families, both with ensuites and space to share with a living area and oversized pool terrace.

Party like it’s 1,000 BC (but with WiFi)

Whether you’re planning a wedding, a corporate retreat, or a milestone celebration, Amangiri has the kind of spaces that make you want to dress up—if only to match the scenery. KAX partners with the property to create the most bespoke experience, so you can focus on enjoying the moment instead of sweating the details. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to say “I do” with a desert sunset as their witness?

Whether you’re planning a wedding, a corporate retreat, or a milestone celebration, Amangiri has the kind of spaces that make you want to dress up—if only to match the scenery. For weddings, this is the kind of venue that makes even the most stoic relatives tear up before the vows are even exchanged. Imagine saying “I do” under the glow of a desert sunset, with towering mesas standing as witnesses. Whether it’s an intimate elopement or a larger ceremony, KAX will team up with Amangiri to handle every detail, from floral arrangements to custom menus, leaving you free to focus on the romance—or, let’s be honest, on how amazing you’re going to look in those photos.

Personal parties here are just as spectacular. Birthdays, anniversaries, or “just because” celebrations can be tailored to fit your style, whether that’s a private dinner in a hidden canyon or cocktails by the pool as the stars put on their nightly show. The resort’s flexibility means you can go as formal or laid-back as you like. Want a live band to serenade your guests? Done. Prefer an intimate gathering with just a few close friends and an absurdly good bottle of wine? Also done. Whatever your vision, we will make it happen seamlessly.

For business events, forget dull conference rooms with bad coffee and fluorescent lighting. Amangiri offers meeting spaces that will actually make people want to RSVP “yes” even if they are required to go. Whether it’s a corporate retreat, product launch or team-building getaway, the property provides an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive. And let’s face it, no one’s going to complain about a post-meeting yoga session or an evening spent stargazing after a long day of brainstorming. With customizable spaces, state-of-the-art amenities and catering that rivals five-star restaurants, it’s the perfect place to turn work into something truly inspiring.

Adventures beyond the sandstone

While the resort might tempt you never to leave, the surrounding area is packed with opportunities for exploration. Visit nearby national parks like Zion or Bryce Canyon, take a private air tour over Lake Powell or test your bravery with a rock-climbing excursion. And if you prefer your adventures a little more grounded, the hiking trails around the resort are nothing short of spectacular.

Amangiri will be a place you want to come back to again and again. From its minimalist architecture to its seamless integration with the desert, every detail is designed to create an experience that’s as luxurious as it is grounding. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or just to see what all the fuss is about, you’ll leave knowing one thing for sure: the desert has never looked so good.

And if you don’t believe us, just wait until you see that plunge pool under the stars. It’ll make you rethink everything you thought you knew about roughing it.
