In the heart of Cappadocia, at the apex of the enchanting village of Uçhisar, lies the Museum Hotel. This extraordinary establishment is a living museum set in the remnants of ancient caves and stone houses, meticulously restored to reflect both history and luxury. With the majestic landscapes of Cappadocia as its backdrop, Museum Hotel offers a truly unique blend of opulence and authenticity.
Experience Cappadocia, right in your room
Each of the 34 rooms and suites at Museum Hotel is a nod to the art of thoughtful restoration and design. From deluxe rooms to imperial suites, every accommodation option boasts unique elements, from original dovecotes and stone columns to secret tunnels (yes, secret tunnels!). These features, once integral to the daily lives of the ancient inhabitants, now serve as charming details that tell a story of a bygone era–or, just a way to sneak up on your fellow guest.
Inside, no two rooms are alike. Individually chosen furniture, rich textiles, and artwork decorate the interiors, blending seamlessly with modern amenities. The suites of the hotel, with names like Muhteşem (Turkish for magnificent) and Sultan’s Cave, are a charming spread of private pools, wine on tap, warmed marble massage stones and some even offer fish ponds and private gardens. Each room features some of the finest stone and cave architecture that is unique to Cappadocia, a testament to the living museum concept of this Relais & Chateaux property.

Eating in the caves
Museum Hotel doesn't just captivate with its history and architecture; its dining experiences are equally enchanting. Cappadocia is home to many different cultures, making it one of the richest food cultures in Anatolia. Turks, Rhums (Orthodox Turks) and Amenians have all lived together in the city for hundreds of years, influencing the food and flavors that remain in this place today.
At Lil’a, the hotel's premier restaurant, Chef Saygın Sesli treats guests to a culinary journey that showcases the best of Turkish and international cuisine. The dishes, crafted from locally sourced ingredients, often feature produce from the hotel’s own organic garden. The restaurant's setting, with panoramic views of Cappadocia's stunning landscapes, where you’ll often see hot air balloons dotting the sky, provide entertainment while you feast.
Loggia is the hotel’s private dining area with the most beautiful views of Cappadocia, while wine tasting can be had at their cellar, Cavo–a restoration project of a historical cave in what the hotel calls a ‘mystical area,’ today it boasts a unique collection featuring wines from the top producers in Anatolia.
For a more casual experience, the Indigo Sunset Bar is the place to be. Here, guests can sip on expertly mixed cocktails while watching the sun set over the fairy-tale chimneys of Cappadocia. The ambiance is perfect for winding down after a day of exploring.
Spa treatments that heal amongst history
The Museum Hotel's spa services offer a unique sanctuary (or perhaps, sanctum) for relaxation and rejuvenation. Although the hotel doesn't boast a full-scale spa, it provides intimate and personalized massage services, private baths and a traditional barber service. The Infinity Roman Pool, designed after ancient Roman baths located on the hotel terrace is a chance to unwind, surrounded by the tranquility of the Cappadocian landscape.

A living museum, full of antiquities
The Museum Hotel's location in Uçhisar, Cappadocia, is steeped in history. The village itself is famous for its Uçhisar Castle, a natural rock formation that has been used as a fortress for centuries. The region of Cappadocia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its unique geological formations known as fairy chimneys, its ancient cave dwellings, and its rich cultural heritage.
The hotel's buildings, which were once caves and stone houses dating back thousands of years, have been meticulously restored. The restoration process has preserved the original structures' unique elements while integrating modern luxuries. This careful balance between preservation and modernization is what gives the Museum Hotel its distinct character.
Guests can also explore the loggia, meeting hall, and various other spaces that seamlessly integrate the region's heritage with modern comforts. Each area is adorned with antiquities registered at the Museum of Nevsehir, adding to the unique beauty of your stay.
Beyond the hotel, a city of artisans
Cappadocia is a treasure trove of unique and unforgettable experiences. One of the most iconic activities is taking a hot air balloon ride at dawn. As you drift above the surreal landscape of fairy chimneys, valleys, and caves, the rising sun bathes the terrain in a golden glow, creating a breathtaking panorama. This serene adventure offers a bird's-eye view of Cappadocia's stunning geological formations and is often accompanied by a celebratory champagne toast upon landing, making it a perfect way to (some may say our favorite way to) start your day.
For those who prefer to stay grounded, Cappadocia offers numerous hiking trails that wind through its dramatic scenery. The Göreme National Park is a must-see destination with trails that lead you through mesmerizing rock formations, lush vineyards, and ancient rock-cut churches adorned with frescoes. The Rose Valley and the Ihlara Valley are also notable for their picturesque paths, offering a mix of natural beauty and historical intrigue. These hikes provide an immersive way to experience the region’s rich history and captivating landscapes.
When it's time to unwind and indulge in some local culture, Cappadocia's towns and villages are brimming with charming shops and markets. Uçhisar, where the Museum Hotel is located, is a great starting point with its quaint boutiques selling handmade crafts, traditional pottery, and beautiful Turkish carpets. Nearby, the town of Avanos is famous for its pottery workshops, where you can watch artisans at work and even try your hand at creating your own piece. The local markets are perfect for picking up unique souvenirs and tasting regional delicacies, such as dried fruits, nuts, and Turkish delight.
From the meticulously restored rooms and suites to the exquisite dining and wellness experiences, every aspect of the Museum Hotel is designed to provide guests with an unforgettable experience. Add to that the rich history of Uçhisar and the breathtaking landscapes of Cappadocia, and you have a captivating destination to check off the list.
